STARSkate
A figure skating program for skaters that have completed CanSkate.
Once your skater has completed the Stage 5/6 of the CanSkate program, they will be invited to move up to our StarSkate session where they will have the opportunity to develop the fundamental skills needed for figure skating.

As your skaters skills increase, they will gradually move through the 10 levels of the StarSkate program. StarSkate provides the tools for skaters to develop self-confidence, motivation, time-management skills and determination.
Skaters at this level will have the option to participate in competitions throughout the season as well as be introduced to the test and assessment stream.
The lessons are taught in a group format in a progressive and sequential manner.

Skaters will also participate in a 45 minute "off ice" group training session on Saturdays as well as on ice sessions. Off ice training will be run by one of our Coaches and provides the ability for Skaters to warmup and stretch, work on balance and strength and practice free skate skills. Off-ice training is a significant factor for figure skaters as it can greatly enhance their performance and assist them in achieving their objectives all the way up to the more complex jumps. Off-ice training can also help with mental focus, essential for mastering those complex jumps and spins.
When skaters regularly engage in off-ice training, it builds mental toughness that helps them push through challenges and stay focused during practice and competition. Off-ice training is also necessary for figure skaters who want to stay injury-free, physically fit, and mentally sharp.

Please note that Star registration includes 2 or 3 skating sessions per week: Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons in Erin. The cost of this program includes ice times and an additional 45 minutes of off ice group training with the Coach on Saturdays before going on the ice. Please also note, STARSkate is significantly subsidized by other programs, and therefore, there is an expectation that Star Skaters will make themselves available as Program Assistants for other programs.

This year we have several options to choose from, an optional preseason in September, and for the regular season an option of three nights on the ice or two nights on the ice.
